Hi there!
Welcome to my site. I am Tania Ingram – Australian children’s author, wife and mother – although not always in that order. I was a child psychologist for a time but decided that writing stories was more fun. When I’m not making up stories about magic and mysteries, I spend my time writing poetry, reading, and singing to my chickens (which secretly, I think they enjoy despite their appeared lack of interest).

Hi Jordan. Thanks for your message. I’m glad you like the books. As for starting and finishing books – There are a lot of ways to write books. Some authors plan chapter by chapter what is going to happen and others just write whatever pops into their head. I write more the latter way – simply write one bit and see what happens next. With a bit of practice you will find your own style. Good luck!

Thanks for your message. You can buy Jinny and Cooper books at any bookstore (they can order them in if they don’t have them already). Some Big W stores have them and there are lots of online bookstores like Booktopia.com.au who have them as well.

My friends are Hunter and Scarlett. Archie is also from my class. We have been reading the Jinny and Cooper books in our library lessons. Your books are filled with wonder, that make my believe that I am there with Jinny, Tyron and Cooper, of course. I am enjoying the library lessons much more than i usually do. I hope you are able to eventually come to school , and tell us your great ideas that made you write about Jinny and Cooper! I have a question, Tania. When you write the Jinny and Cooper books, what makes you write about a magical guinea pig that is obsessed with junk food?

How or what inspired you to write books?

I always wanted to be an author ever since I was a kid but I really started seriously writing after I had my daughter. I’d make up lots of stories for her and one day I decided to start writing them down. I sent them to a publisher and the rest is history.

We have two guinea pigs – a creamy golden coloured one called Humphrey and a black and brown one with fur that sticks up all over the placed called… you guessed it…COOPER! 🙂 PS: Humphrey also makes an appearance in Book 3: Curse of the Genie’s Ring.

No, it’s not Jenny (or Jinny) but it was my daughter who came up with the names Jinnifer and Cooper for the characters.

Me, my friends and my sister Emmaly, are soooo excited about you coming to visit our school, and my class. At the moment, I am ordering the Jinny and Cooper books, for you to sign when the day comes we both put our pocket money together to afford all of the books!! August the 28th feels like forever! I just wish that you could bring Humphery and Cooper! Cooper sounds like he’s sooo cheeky, but I am not sure about Humphery yet! By the way, in my library lessons we are one chapter away from completing the book 2. I can’t believe how X is the stone witch! It really shocked me when my friend told me! but I can’t believe how the trick Jinny into thinking how Cooper ate a carrot!

They both sound wonderful, but if we order the books when we get them? will it be on the 29th of August? or in September, I am a a bit confused on the releasing date? Do you know when we will eventually get them?

The 3rd and 4th books officially come out on the 29th of August, Jasmine but I’m not sure when you will get yours. I guess it depends who you order them through. Bookshops should have them in on the 29th but you might want to get your Mum or Dad to ring in advance to make sure your local bookshop will have them.

Hopefully lots of people buy the Jinny and Cooper books so you can make several of them. I would love it if there was a Jinny and Cooper collection as long as the rainbow magic sets (apparently there are nearly 200 of them)! But that would be a dream come true! I think a great adventure would be to be sucked down a portal of some kind to a different land or something! That would be epic! By the way I am reading the Harry Potter books at the moment. I am onto book 5 – The Order of the Phoneix at the moment. So if my ideas are a bit to scary for year 1’s, 2’s and 3’s it’s okay. Since I am in Grande 5.

Hi Archie
The best advice I can give you is to read lots of books for the same age group you want to write for. By doing this you will get a feel for how a novel works. You will notice there is usually an introduction where you learn a bit about the characters and then a couple of rises where something exciting happens in the story, then there will be a point where your main character is in some kind of danger and will have to make a decision and then the resolution where everything is solved in the end. Read a few stories and see if you can find these points in them. Goodluck.
